Jealousy can be quite a problem in relationships. Some find jealousy cute, some find it annoying, and some can't stand it. The point is that sometimes it can get out of hand and cause a problem in the relationship. Here are some examples for each stage.
1. Mild Jealousy- You are at the mall with your partner or spouse and your partner starts checking out this hottie, you then give your partner the shrug (like lets come on) and you may be slightly upset.
2. Moderate Jealousy- You are at the mall with your partner or spouse and your partner starts checking out this hottie, and you quit reacting with him/her the rest of the mall outing or say something like this, "why don't you keep checking out all the hotties". Here, you are upset but can get over it hopefully by the time you get home.
3. Problematic Jealousy- You are at the mall with your partner or spouse and your partner starts checking out this hottie, you then tell him/her to "go be with him/her then" or "lets go home" or maybe even jerks you by the arm. This is a problem, the jealousy has gotten out of hand to where the other partner wants to control you. It definitely becomes a problem when the issue is always being brought up.
Jealousy can be cute at first but then it may become a problem as you seen in the above examples. The best way to handle jealousy in a relationship is to have trust in each other and also let the other spouse know that there is no other person for them other than you. If it turns out to become a problem, try getting counseling if just talking it out yourself doesn't work.
